- Bixbite— Occasionally used to describe the rare form of Red Beryl from Utah. The name Bixbite has been generally discouraged by most authorities and is being discontinued.
- Pezzottaite— Newly identified raspberry-red gemstone very similar to Beryl, first recognized by the IMA in 2003. Although Pezzottaite was originally regarded as a variety of Beryl, it is now scientifically recognized as an individual mineral species.
- Red Beryl— Rare, deep red variety of Beryl found only two localities in Utah.
