Hydrothermal Method
Mode of creating synthetic forms of Quartz that can be used as gemstones. It involves placing small fragments of Quartz into a large pressure-sealed container with a solution of sodium carbonate or hydroxyl which cause the Quartz fragments to melt and recrystallize upon heating. The hydrothermal method is especially used to synthesize Quartz with vivid colors that are usually not found in nature.
