This Andalusite specimen passed from an old collection in New York to Richard Hauck at some point, and thence to Rob Lavinsky. What you see here are three startlingly clear and sharp crystals, with the internal "crosses" that make variety of Andalusite so unique. These crosses consist of either clay or carbonaceous materials included inside the crystals in regular patterns (which can vary - you can see that a couple of them have circles in the middle at the crux of the cross). Real conversation piece. |
