Fluorite makes a beautiful gemstone that comes in all colors, and can often be multicolored with two or more contrasting color within the same gemstone. Multicolored Fluorite gemstones often show banding patterns. Large and flawless crystals are fairly common, and these can produce very large and totally clear gemstones. However, due to Fluorite's very low hardness and perfect cleavage, it cannot be used as a mainstream gemstone, and it is generally cut specifically for specialty collectors. Hide

Heliodor and Golden Beryl are the greenish-yellow to yellow varieties of Beryl. Beryl is best known for its famous gem varieties Emerald and
Aquamarine, but other varieties such as Heliodor and Golden Beryl are also used as gemstones. In a strict sense, Heliodor and Golden Beryl are distinguished by their color, where Heliodor has a greenish-yellow hue, and Golden Beryl is a purer yellow or an orange-yellow. However, in both the mineral and gemstone trade, this distinction is not usually made and both terms are interchangeable, with the term Golden Beryl being the more frequently used term in the gemstone market. The term Heliodor may also be used to describe light green, orange, and brown Beryl. Hide

Grossular is the most varicolored of the Garnets. The term Garnet describes a group name for several closely related minerals that form important gemstones, and Grossular is an individual member mineral of the Garnet group. Pure Grossular is colorless; the wide range of colors in this Garnet is caused by various impurities. Some Grossular types have their own unique variety or trade names, and are only called by these names in the gemstone market. The orange-brown Hessonite and deep green Tsavorite varieties are the best known varieties. In the gem trade, the term Grossularite is synonymous with Grossular, and both names are acceptable names for describing this gemstone. Hide

Hiddenite is the green gem variety of the mineral
Spodumene. Spodumene is a common mineral, but only in several
localities does it occur in transparent gem form. One gem form of
Spodumene is Kunzite, the other important and much rarer form is Hiddenite. Hiddenite is named after William Earl Hidden, who was instrumental in identifying this new gemstone. The town in North Carolina where this gemstone was found was subsequently given the name "Hiddenite" in honor of the gemstone. Hide

Jade is best known as a green ornamental stone. Its colors varies from light to dark green, but it may also be other colors such as white, gray, and purple. Jade is actually the gemstone name for two different mineral forms, Jadeite and Nephrite. These two minerals can be identical in appearance and are similar in their physical properties, and until modern times no distinction was made between the two different types of Jade. While Nephrite is generally only green, cream, or white, Jadeite colors can range through the color spectrum with more exotic colors. Hide
