Select a group on the left. The minerals that belong to the selected group will be displayed in this frame.

Most mineral groups are further divided into subgroups. When you select a group on the left, you will see a text link labeled "Divided by subgroups". Clicking on it will expand the selected group into all the subgroups. In the silicates group, the subgroups contain additional subgroups.

The "extended group list" at the bottom of the left frame adds a list of all the subgroups together with the main mineral groups.

This section is arranged in accordance with Dana's order of mineralogy. However, many rare groups and subgroups are not applicable to the mineral collector, and are thus not mentioned. In addition, some classification structures not present in Dana are present here. (To sort with Dana classification, select "Sort by Dana" at the bottom of the left frame)

(Please realize that we are in the midst of creating this site and there are still many minerals that are not indexed.)
