Feldspar Group
The feldspars are aluminum silicates (AlSi3O8) that contain potassium, sodium, and/or calcium. (Rare members containing
other elements also exist.) A silicon (Si) atom may be replaced by the atom of a different
metal, thus there are less than three silicon atoms in some feldspars.
Some minerals of this group are often wrongly classified as varieties of other minerals in
this group.
Feldspar is the most abundant group of minerals on the earth.
