Red Analcime with Thaumasite
Red Analcime with Thaumasite from Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic Co., New Jersey
Collection Hershel Friedman
Description This is an unusual Analcime crystal in fibrous Thaumasite. The coloring is from Hematite inclusions, which leaves the Analcime a desirable red. Its red color looks similar to garnet, which also forms in that crystal habit. There are several smaller, less-remarkable crystals present as well, including one that seems to have repaired with glue. Original collection of Curt Hennig, acquired from Eric Stanchich in 2014.
Locality Upper New Street Quarry, Paterson, Passaic Co., New Jersey
Dimensions 10 x 7 x 4.5 cm.
